Phillips says she usually only buys one "Lifetime Riches" ticket but decided to buy two instead. On the second, it revealed the lifetime prize. Phillips she says she thought to herself "That's not right!" so she took the ticket back to the retailer to have it validated. The prize was correct, and she has received her first check for $50,000, which after Federal and State taxes is $34,000. Phillips says she loves to travel and will use some of her winnings on future vacations. Glenn Williams of Yanceyville says he always plays the same "oddball" numbers when he buys a "Carolina Cash 5" ticket. On April 28, those oddball numbers paid off. His ticket matched all five numbers drawn to be worth $258,564! Williams bought his winning ticket at Tommy's Mini-Mart on Highway 158 West in Yanceyville. Williams says he doesn’t have any immediate plans for his winnings other than to share some of it with his family. This isn't the first time Williams has won big, he told lottery employees upon claiming his prize. He says he was part of a 20-person pool that won $25 million in the New York State Lottery. The Powerball jackpot continues to roll! The jackpot for the Wednesday, May 6 Powerball drawing is an estimated $92 million. Three tickets in the Saturday, May 2 Powerball drawing matched four out of five white balls plus the Powerball. Two of the three tickets were Power Played and are worth $30,000 each since the Power Play multiplier for the drawing was three. These tickets were sold at Food King on North Main Street in Biscoe and Jay's Food Mart on West Morganton Road in Southern Pines. The other ticket that matched four out of five white balls plus the Powerball was not Power Played and is worth $10,000. This ticket was sold at Lowe's Foods on Mebane Oaks Road in Mebane. A total of 40,414 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in the Saturday, May 2 Powerball drawing, ranging from $30,000 down to $3 for a total payout in prizes worth $360,490. The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) has paid out more than $6.6 million total in instant scratchoff ticket prizes since Thursday, April 30. Also since Thursday, "Carolina Cash 5" players have won more than $142,000. "Carolina Pick 4" players have won more than $270,000, and 13 tickets were sold that won the top prize of $5,000. "Carolina Pick 3" players have won more than $1.1 million.
