Shuford told the NCEL that he is only an occasional player of the lottery. He had stopped with his wife at the Conover Pure on 1st Street in Conover when on impulse he purchased his winning Harley-Davidson instant scratch-off ticket. "I couldn't believe it," Shuford explained. "I told my wife to look at the ticket because I think I have won a motorcycle." Shuford added that a week after he won the motorcycle, he bought another Harley-Davidson ticket and won $100. NCEL Executive Director Tom Shaheen congratulated Shuford during an event at Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson in Hickory. The Harley-Davidson game had a total of six 2009 Harley-Davidson Fat Bob motorcycles that players could win instantly. As of today, there are two remaining. In addition, there are two that players can win by entering the two remaining second chance drawings. In the first drawing held May 6, a Lenoir woman's name was drawn as the motorcycle winner. The NCEL will award one motorcycle each for the remaining two drawings. Plus, the NCEL also will award over a thousand Harley-Davidson merchandise prize packs in the second chance drawings. Players may enter as many non-winning tickets as they want. More details and the rules of the game are available on the How to Play brochure available at retail locations and can be viewed on the NCEL Web site. The $3 Harley-Davidson ticket also offered eight top prizes of $75,000 and chances to win many other prizes of $500, $100 and more. As of Thursday there are four top prizes of $75,000 still available.
