The general contractor says he plans to continue working, meet with a financial advisor, and purchase a BMW. A different North Carolina ticket in last night's Powerball drawing matched four out of five white balls plus the Power Ball and was Power Played. The ticket, sold at Lowe's Foods on Summit Square Boulevard in Winston-Salem, is worth $20,000 since the Power Play multiplier was two. The Powerball jackpot continues to roll. The jackpot for the Saturday, May 23 Powerball drawing is an estimated $192 million! A total of 60,569 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in the Wednesday, May 20 Powerball drawing, ranging from $1 million down to $3 for a total payout in prizes worth $1,347,234. Star resident Ashley Eggen walked into Quik Chek #13 on South Main Street in Troy to buy one "Lifetime Riches" ticket and instantly won $50,000 a year for life.* She already received her first check, which after taxes is $34,003.20. She'll continue to receive checks every year for the rest of her life. Eggen said she couldn’t believe she had won, so she had the cashier double check the ticket. She then called her husband to tell him the good news. Eggen is the fourth top prize winner on "Lifetime Riches." She and her husband are expecting their first child and plan to use the winnings to care for the new addition to their family. Asked how it felt to win, Eggen replied "Wonderful!" Carolyn Downey usually plays her own special "Carolina Cash 5" numbers, but said she was feeling good when she decided to let the computer quick pick numbers for her May 18 "Carolina Cash 5" ticket instead. The retired Durham woman won $526,734 when all five numbers matched. Her prize money totaled $358,178.44 after taxes. Downey says she could not believe it at first, but is excited about putting her winnings toward home improvements and a riding lawn mower for her husband. Downey purchased her winning ticket at the Food Lion on Fayetteville Street in Durham.
