NCEL - FRANKLIN COUNTY MAN WINS $200,000 POWERBALL PRIZE
-Statesville Woman Wins Top Prize of $141,400 on "Carolina Cash 5"-
-Six NC Powerball Players Win Prizes of $10,000 up to $30,000 Each-
RALEIGH - Henry Hyatt of Louisburg thought he might have won a couple hundred dollars on last night's Powerball drawing, but with a little checking figured out his ticket was worth $200,000. He told NCEL employees that he "couldn't believe it."

Hyatt says he has no immediate plans for his winnings which came to approximately $136,000 after taxes. He purchased his winning ticket at the Kangaroo Express on Millbrook Road in Raleigh.

Vivian Learson had thousands of reasons to celebrate over the holiday weekend upon realizing she won the top prize of $141,400 in the May 24 "Carolina Cash 5" drawing. The Statesville resident matched all five numbers on her winning ticket purchased at Iredell Oil on Wilkesboro Highway in Statesville. Learson says she feels blessed and will put most of the money in the bank. She is considering buying a new flat screen TV with her winnings which total $96,152.32 after taxes.

Six tickets sold in North Carolina matched four out of five white balls for last night's Powerball drawing. Ernest Mannella of Burlington purchased his winning ticket at Duncan Exxon on South Church Street in Burlington. He Power Played his ticket to win a prize of $30,000, since the Power Play multiplier was three. A total of five tickets sold in Charlotte, Durham, Halifax County and Pender County that were not Power Played are worth $10,000 each, and have yet to be claimed.

A total of 77,188 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in the Wednesday, May 27 Powerball drawing, ranging from $200,000 to $3 for a total payout in prizes worth over $1 million.

One ticket sold in South Dakota matched all five white balls and the Powerball to win the jackpot in last night's drawing. The jackpot for the Saturday, May 30 Powerball drawing is an estimated $20 million.

The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) has paid out nearly $2.6 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Tuesday, May 26. Also since Tuesday, "Carolina Cash 5" players have won more than $56,000. "Carolina Pick 4" players have won over $256,000 and 16 tickets were sold that won the top prize of $5,000. "Carolina Pick 3" players have won more than $842,000.
