George Zedlitz Jr. of Taylorsville won $10,000 after purchasing his winning Powerball ticket from The Market Basket on NC Highway 16 South in Alexander County. His ticket, which was not Power Played, matched four out of five white balls and the Power Ball making it worth $10,000. A total of 24,834 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in the Saturday, May 30 Powerball drawing, ranging from $10,000 to $3 for a total payout in prizes worth $508,640. The jackpot for the Wednesday, June 3 Powerball drawing is an estimated $25 million. North Carolina players have a chance to win over a quarter million dollars in Monday’s “Carolina Cash 5” drawing. The Top Prize has reached an estimated $305,000 and could continue to grow if no tickets match all five numbers. The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) has paid out more than $4.1 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Thursday, May 28. Also since Thursday, “Carolina Cash 5” players have won nearly $138,000. “Carolina Pick 4” players have won over $354,000 and 17 tickets were sold that won the top prize of $5,000. “Carolina Pick 3” players have won more than $1 million. The NCEL has named two more finalists in the “$130 Million Blockbuster” $50,000 a year for life grand prize bonus drawing. The finalists whose entries were drawn during the preliminary drawing on May 19 are Darlene MacQuaide of Fayetteville and Johnny Whitfield of Gibsonville. “$130 Million Blockbuster” is a $10 instant scratch-off ticket. The game provides an added feature for players who scratch and reveal a “DRAWING” symbol —only those tickets can be entered into one of five preliminary drawings. Two entries will be drawn from each preliminary drawing. The final preliminary drawing will be held June 30 (entry deadline June 23). More details on the drawings and the rules of the game are available on the How to Play instructions available at retail locations and can be viewed on the NCEL Web site. Players may also call the Player Hotline at 1-877-962-7529 to request a brochure.
