NCEL - WINSTON-SALEM MAN WINS $200,000 JACKPOT
-"Carolina Cash 5" Ticket Worth $376,000 Sold in Henderson County-
RALEIGH - When Michael Garner won $200,000 instantly, he says his friend did not believe him. “Pull over, I won $200,000,” the Winston-Salem landscaper told his friend, who was driving. “We’re going to Raleigh.” Garner bought his $200,000 Jackpot ticket from Carlton’s Tanglewood on Clemmons Road in Clemmons. He told the NCEL that he plans to pay off his mortgage and possibly buy a boat with his jackpot prize, which is worth $136,001.60 after taxes.

Carolina Cash 5 players need to check their tickets. One “Carolina Cash 5” ticket sold in Henderson County is worth $376,000 after matching all five numbers in the June 2 drawing. That winning ticket, sold at Mr. Pete’s Market VI on Brevard Road in Etowah, has yet to be submitted for claim.

Three winning tickets matched four out of five white balls in the Wednesday, June 3 Powerball drawing. Two tickets, sold at 3 G Mart on Stancil Street in Smithfield and at Big Daddy’s on East Court Street in Marion, were Power Played and are worth $20,000 each, because the Power Play multiplier was two. The third ticket, sold at Wilco on Kerr Road in Haw River was not Power Played so it is worth $10,000.

A total of 26,008 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in the Wednesday, June 3 Powerball drawing, ranging from $20,000 to $3 for a total payout in prizes worth $287,419. The jackpot for the Saturday, June 6 Powerball drawing is an estimated $34 million.

The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) has paid out more than $4.1 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Monday, June 1. Also since Monday, “Carolina Cash 5” players have won over $513,000. “Carolina Pick 4” players have won over $260,000 and 10 tickets were sold that won the top prize of $5,000. “Carolina Pick 3” players have won more than $1.1 million.
