Regina Whitaker says she had been looking forward to playing the new “$200 Million Extravaganza” instant scratch-off game ever since she saw the television commercials. On Tuesday, the day the ticket launched, she went to the Stantonsburg Friendly Mart on Moyton Drive in Stantonsburg, specifically to purchase the new $20 ticket. The Whitakers won $25 on the ticket they purchased and decided to use their winnings to buy another ticket. They waited until they got home to scratch the second ticket, which turned out to be worth $1 million! “I said, ‘Lord!’ and fell on my knees,” Regina Whitaker recollected about how she felt when she realized the ticket was a big winner. She added, “I was screaming and he (her husband) was crying tears of joy.” The $1 million prize is paid in 20 annual installments of $50,000 (less taxes). The Whitakers have already received their first check, which was $34,006.40 after taxes. They plan to use some of their winnings to travel to Myrtle Beach. With the overall chance of winning being 1 in 2.65, the “$200 Million Extravaganza” instant scratch-off game has five top prizes of $3 million and 10 prizes of $1 million. It also has more than 12,600 prizes from $1,000 to $100,000 and more than 1.2 million prizes from $30 to $500. The $3 million prize is paid in 20 annual installments of $150,000 (minus taxes).
