On Friday, Oct. 16, one ticket matched all five numbers drawn to win the $194,983 top prize. This ticket was sold at Elizabeth City Family Fare on U.S. 17 South in Elizabeth City. On Saturday, Oct. 17, one ticket matched all five numbers drawn to win the $50,000 top prize. This ticket was sold at Go Country Mart & Grill on Highway 24 in Cameron. Then on Sunday, Oct. 18, one ticket matched all five numbers drawn to again win the $50,000 top prize. This ticket was sold at College Lakes Liberty on Ramsey Street in Fayetteville. In Powerball news, David Ruvolis of Charlotte and William Hummel of Wilmington are the state’s most recent $200,000 Powerball winners. Ruvolis bought a Powerball ticket for the Oct. 14 drawing and matched all five white balls to win the top non-jackpot prize. He says he’s not sure what he will do with the $136,000.32 he received after taxes. He bought his winning ticket at Bi-Lo on Prosperity Church Road in Charlotte. In the Saturday, Oct. 17 Powerball drawing, William Hummel of Wilmington picked his own numbers and matched all five white balls. He learned of his $200,000 win when he checked his numbers online this morning. Hummel says he thought, “Wait a minute, these numbers are matching. Whoa!” Hummel, who received $136,000.32 after taxes, says he will invest his winnings. He bought his winning ticket at Scotchman on Wrightsville Avenue in Wilmington. In addition to Hummel’s winning ticket, two tickets in the Oct. 17 Powerball drawing matched four out of five white balls plus the Powerball. One of the two tickets was Power Played and is worth $50,000 since the Power Play multiplier was five. This ticket was sold at Dallas Mini Mart on East Trade Street in Dallas. The other ticket that matched four out of five white balls plus the Powerball was not Power Played and is worth $10,000. This ticket was sold at K&K Kountry Corner on Easley Road in Walnut Cove. A total of 35,486 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in the Saturday, Oct. 17 Powerball drawing ranging from $200,000 to $3 for a total payout in prizes worth $620,328. No one matched all five white balls plus the Powerball to win the jackpot, so the jackpot for the Wednesday, Oct. 21 Powerball drawing is an estimated $25 million. The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) has paid out more than $7.4 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Thursday, Oct. 15. Also since Thursday, “Carolina Pick 3” players have won more than $1 million. “Carolina Pick 4” players have won nearly $222,000 and 11 tickets won the top prize of $5,000. “Carolina Cash 5” players have won more than $418,000.
