RALEIGH - A Laurinburg woman said she was in a state of excitement and disbelief after scratching off a $100,000 instant prize. Susan Alshayef purchased her winning $200 Million Extravaganza ticket at Mill Road Grocery on Mill Road in Rockingham. She also told NCEL officials she is contemplating taking a trip with her winnings, which totaled $68,001 after taxes.

A “Carolina Cash 5” ticket is worth $349,222 after it matched all five numbers in the Sunday, Jan. 10 drawing. Someone purchased the top prize-winning ticket at the Petro Express on South Tryon Street in Charlotte, but has not yet submitted it for claim.

Two Powerball tickets sold in North Carolina are big winners in the Saturday, Jan. 9 drawing. A ticket sold at the Zip Food Store on North Andy Griffith Parkway in Mount Airy is worth $200,000 because it matched all five white balls. It has yet to be submitted for claim. Another ticket worth $10,000 matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball. That ticket was sold at Wilco on Yadkinville Road in Mocksville.

A total of 32,152 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in the Saturday, Jan. 9 Powerball drawing ranging from $3 to $200,000 for a total payout in prizes worth $387,622. Because no tickets matched all five white balls and the Powerball, the jackpot for the Wednesday, Jan. 13 Powerball drawing is an estimated $30 million.

The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) has paid out over $5.4 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Thursday, Jan. 7. Also since Thursday, “Carolina Pick 3” players have won over $657,000, “Carolina Pick 4” players have won more than $435,000, and 23 tickets won the top prize of $5,000. “Carolina Cash 5” players have won over $538,000.
