NCEL - CATAWBA COUNTY WOMAN WINS $100,000 INSTANTLY ON "THE PRICE IS RIGHT" INSTANT SCRATCH-OFF GAME
-$200,000 Powerball Ticket Sold at Gaston County Retailer-
RALEIGH - After scratching off a “The Price is Right” instant game at home, a Hickory woman called her adult son and said “I think you’d better come over here, I think I won $100,000!” Judy Wittcop was right; she became the first person to claim the top prize on the game since it was introduced on Jan. 26. She purchased her winning ticket, worth $68,001 after taxes, at the Fresh Air Galaxy on Springs Road in Hickory. Wittcop told NCEL officials that, in addition to sharing some money with family members, she and her husband plan to take a vacation to Florida.

Powerball players in North Carolina need to check their tickets! One ticket is worth $200,000 after it matched all five white balls in the Saturday, Jan. 30 drawing. It was sold at the S&D Food Mart on Garrison Boulevard in Gastonia. Two tickets matched four out of five white balls and the Powerball, and are worth $30,000 each because they were Power Played and the multiplier was three. Those tickets were sold at the Northern Stars on Rosedale Hill Avenue in Huntersville and at Tommy’s Mini Mart on Mt. Misery Road in Leland.

A total of 40,024 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in the Saturday, Jan. 30 Powerball drawing ranging from $3 to $200,000 for a total payout in prizes worth $537,555. Because no tickets matched all five white balls and the Powerball, the jackpot for the Wednesday, Feb. 3 Powerball drawing is an estimated $107 million.

The first Mega Millions drawing available to North Carolina players will be Tuesday, Feb. 2. The estimated jackpot for that drawing is $12 million. Tickets first went on sale for Mega Millions on Sunday, Jan. 31. Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesday and Friday nights.

The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) has paid out over $5.9 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Thursday, Jan. 28. Also since Thursday, “Carolina Pick 3” players have won over $803,000, “Carolina Pick 4” players have won more than $430,000 and 17 tickets won the top prize of $5,000. “Carolina Cash 5” players have won over $256,000.
