NCEL - THREE PEOPLE WIN $100,000 EACH PLAYING
"THE PRICE IS RIGHT" INSTANT SCRATCH-OFF GAME
RALEIGH - Beverly Harrison of Statesville, Jeffrey Boswell of Burlington and Christopher Chase of Jacksonville are the most recent $100,000 winners of “The Price is Right” instant scratch-off game. Harrison scratched off the $100,000 prize after purchasing two tickets at Fast Phil’s on Shelton Avenue in Statesville. She told NCEL officials that she plans to use her winnings, which totaled $68,001 after taxes, to travel, shop and save for the future.

Jeffrey Boswell said he could not believe he won and is considering getting a new truck with his winnings. He purchased his winning ticket, worth $68,001 after taxes, at Food Lion on North NC Highway 109.

Christopher Chase won when he played a scratch-off game for the first time after purchasing a ticket at the Whizz Mart #5 on Gum Branch Road in Jacksonville. He told lottery officials that at first he thought the prize was $100 but after seeing the comma, he “froze” and realized he had won $100,000 ($68,001 after taxes). He plans to use some of the money for college classes and to purchase a new car.

Two Powerball tickets are big winners after they matched four white balls and the Powerball in the Feb. 10 drawing. One ticket, sold at the Quick Stop on North Horner Boulevard in Sanford is worth $50,000 because it was Power Played and the multiplier was five. The other winning ticket was not Power Played and is worth $10,000. It was sold at Capi’s Exxon Deli & Bakery on Chapel Hill Road in Morrisville.

A total of 24,807 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in the Wednesday, Feb. 10 Powerball drawing ranging from $3 to $50,000 for a total payout in prizes worth over $307,714. Because no tickets matched all five white balls and the Powerball, the jackpot for the Saturday, Feb. 13 drawing is an estimated $25 million.

A total of 13,302 North Carolina Mega Millions players won prizes in the Tuesday, Feb. 9 Mega Millions drawing ranging from $2 to $600 for a total payout in prizes worth $98,954. Because no tickets matched all five white balls and the Mega Ball, the jackpot for the Friday, Feb. 12 Mega Millions drawing is an estimated $44 million.

The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) has paid out over $5.7 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Monday, Feb. 8. Also since Monday, “Carolina Pick 3” players have won over $1.7 million, “Carolina Pick 4” players have won more than $211,000 and 12 tickets won the top prize of $5,000. “Carolina Cash 5” players have won over $88,000.
