For Frank Wooten Jr. of Greenville, winning a $110,000 Cash 5 jackpot means he can finally get his dream car.

“I want to buy a brand new Infiniti,” said Wooten. “I don’t know what make or color yet, but when I see my dream car, it will just hit me. It will be wonderful to buy it straight out and not have any car payments.”

The retired printer’s good fortune started when he stopped at the Country Mart on N.C. 903 North in Stokes and bought a Quick Pick Cash 5 ticket for Friday’s drawing. Wooten checked the numbers the next morning while he was mowing the lawn.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Wooten said. “I had to check the numbers four or five times. I feel so lucky that I hit. It’s a blessing.”

Wooten claimed his prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $77,825.

Cash 5 is a statewide draw game that gives players the chance to win a jackpot every single night. Tickets cost $1 and players can buy tickets at most lottery retailers or through Online Play on the lottery’s website. The jackpot for tonight’s drawing is $120,000.

Ticket sales from draw games like Cash 5 make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $700 million a year for education. For details on how lottery funds have helped all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website. https://www.nclottery.com.
