Time is running out for the winner of a $100,000 Cash 5 jackpot to claim the prize before it expires on Friday, Feb. 22.
The ticket for the Aug. 26 drawing was sold at the Hillsborough Family Fare on N.C. 86 in Hillsborough.

To claim the prize, the winner must bring the ticket to lottery headquarters in Raleigh by 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22. The deadline ends the 180-day period winners have to claim a prize.
“We’re asking all of our Cash 5 players to check their tickets,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “It takes a lot of luck to win a big prize, and we want to make sure whoever bought the ticket doesn’t miss out.”
Cash 5 is a statewide draw game that gives players the chance to win a jackpot every single night. Tickets cost $1 and players can buy tickets at most lottery retailers or through Online Play on the lottery’s website. Jackpots start at $100,000. Friday’s jackpot is $129,000.
