“I couldn’t stop shaking” Concord woman says of $100,634 Cash 5 win

Dana Dysart of Concord said she was in shock after winning Sunday’s $100,634 Cash 5 jackpot. 

“I thought I was going to die in the middle of the store I was so excited,” said Dysart. “I couldn’t even pump gas! I had to have someone come out and do it for me because I couldn’t stop shaking.”

Dysart’s good fortune happened Sunday when she bought a $1 Cash 5 ticket from the Circle K on N.C. 49 N in Mount Pleasant. She discovered the following day that she had won. 

“I put my ticket in the machine and it made the noise that I had won something,” said Dysart. “I thought it was just $200 or $300. Then the cashier said, ‘Sweetheart, you have to go to lottery headquarters.’”

Dysart claimed the jackpot Tuesday from lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required federal and state tax withholdings, she took home $70,948. She plans to use the prize to pay off her house.  

“I’m still in shock,” said Dysart. “I cried all day yesterday. It is just very, very exciting. I’ll finally have my house paid for.”

I been asking for a few years now. Can we get a midday cash 5 draw and can you please move the number of draws from 7 to at least 14 or make it like cash 5 28? 7 draws for pick 3 and 4 is why to low. Thanks NC Lottery

I honestly don't think that it matters if you pick your own numbers or let the quick pick choose for you. Either way, there is only a 1 in 760,000 (I can't remember the exact odds) chance of hitting it. Just play when your gut tells you to. If you are thinking that the ticket will lose or you are playing just because you really need the money. Most likely it will lose, so don't buy it then. If you go out and was just getting gas and didn't have any thoughts about getting a ticket and then your gut starts screaming at you to buy whichever certain ticket, I would do it. Notice a lot of winners that say "I never buy lottery tickets, but I felt like I needed to?" Listen to your gut. Congrats. Not having that house payment anymore will really take a lot of stress off of you. I am still waiting for that Extreme Millions Second Chance. I see I was right about the drawing date. Now I just have to wait. I still feel like that one is the one for me. So excited to see who wins.
