Do you know a School Hero? Someone who makes our schools run so our students can achieve success. It could be a teacher, an office assistant, a custodian, a coach, a principal or a superintendent.
For the next six weeks, you can nominate your School Hero in a special contest created by the N.C. Education Lottery to recognize School Heroes for what they do. By sharing your story about a School Hero, you could help them and their school each win a $10,000 prize. And if the person you nominate is one of the 10 winners, you’ll get a check for $1,000.
The N.C. School Heroes campaign starts today with an inspiring ad celebrating the work of School Heroes and a new website, ncschoolheroes.com.
You can see the video here:
We invite you to go to ncschoolheroes.com and nominate a School Hero who has made a difference in your life or the lives of your students.
Money raised by the lottery assists the work of many of those School Heroes, including $385 million this year that supports the work of school support staff such as office assistants and custodians. This year the money also helps build and repairs schools, supports the N.C. Pre-K program for at-risk four-year-olds, provides college scholarships and grants based on financial need, and supports school transportation.
As you post your School Hero nomination or read other nominations and vote on the ones you like the best, you get the chance to see how the lottery supports education programs in your community. We hope you like our School Heroes contest.
Please share the news about the School Heroes campaign with your family and friends. We know there are a lot of School Heroes out there.
