Mac and cheese craving leads Greensboro woman to $250,000 prize

Stephanie Couch of Greensboro said she won $250,000 when she stopped to get ingredients to make macaroni and cheese.

The surgical technologist bought the winning 20X The Cash scratch-off ticket Saturday at the Food Lion on Holden Road in Greensboro.

“It was just a normal shopping trip for me,” Couch said. “I needed some groceries and decided to get my favorite game while I was there.”

Couch took the ticket home and didn’t scratch it until Monday morning at breakfast.

“I saw the ‘7’ and the ‘7’ and was like, ‘Oh my God! I just won $250,000,’” Couch said. “I took my glasses off, rubbed my eyes, and looked at the ticket again just to make sure I wasn’t seeing things.”

Couch claimed her prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $176,876. She plans to use some of the money to remodel the bathrooms in her home.

You can absolutely scan scratch-off tickets using your mobile phone--just follow the directions to scan the barcode!

There you will be able to scan or manually enter your ticket to collect Lucke-Rewards points. the reordered, how do one know if you are buying of the new reordered or the old one? do you give the pack a new pack number then the old one? Do you pick up all the old ones. NC Lottery
Great question, William. In this case, the reordered batch of this game will have a new game number (original was 654, new is 682). There is also a slight design change where the little shape at the bottom of the card that says "3 BONUS PLAYS" was originally purple with white text, and now it is white with purple text. Since this is technically a "new game" due to the change in game number, the original game will be on pickup starting next week and retailers will only be shipped the new version. Hope this helps.

i think it should go back to the way it started. 2nd chance drawing are Second chance for losing tickets only. No points for those that win anything. Just my thoughts. i think it would calm a lot of people down as to who wins repeatedly. it would bring that repeated number down a whole lot.

To answer my question asked 08-11-19 on the Jones County School blog-after much digging it looks like the State Budget for North Carolina education is 14.2 Billion! That would make the NCEL contribution of 708 million to be 5% of the proposed budget and 95% coming in on the backs of our taxes. Don't get me wrong-as a former winner of 10,000 on the old Powerball payout schedule and a recent winner of 1,000 on a second chance drawing,i appreciate the lottery. However,touting your contribution at the end of most of your answers really is not all that. Let us call it as it is-legalized gambling under the guise of education.
