Lottery players in North Carolina can play for the fourth largest jackpot in Powerball history tonight with a $1.09 billion prize up for grabs.

A winner tonight could claim the jackpot as a $1.09 billion annuity or $527.3 million in cash. The jackpot represents the ninth largest in U.S. history.

“This has been an amazing run for the Powerball game with lots of big wins in North Carolina and money raised for education,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “Good luck to everyone going for the jackpot prize tonight.”

While North Carolinians try their luck at the $1.09 billion prize, other big wins have occurred recently. A lucky ticket in North Carolina matched all five white balls in Monday’s drawing to win $1 million. The odds of that win are 1 in 11.6 million. The win occurred:

• At the Zoom In on South Hughes Boulevard in Elizabeth City

Players can buy Powerball tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website or the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
