New website and app coming soon

We are excited to announce that our new website and mobile app are coming soon! They have a fresh new look and are simpler to use.

The website:
We want to make it easier for you to enjoy playing the lottery, so we put all the information you need in one place. This means we’re retiring Lucke-Zone. Instead, you can access your Player’s Club on the new nclottery.com. That’s an address you’ll want to memorize and use often. You will login with the same username and password that you have now, and you’ll be able to do all of the things you currently enjoy doing.

•    Buy draw games online
•    Enter tickets to collect points
•    Enter Lucke-Rewards and Second-Chance drawings
•    Read and comment on the blog

On the new website, you can learn about the new and exciting games we offer each month. You can find information about how to claim your prize. You can also see where the money raised by the lottery is going, and how it’s impacting all of North Carolina’s 100 counties.

What makes it even better, is that the new website is designed so you can easily find what you need when you’re viewing it with your tablet or phone. Watch the video to get a sneak peek at how it’s going to look.

We’re making it easier to find out if you’re a winner with the new NC Lottery Mobile App. The app features a built in ticket-checker. You can also access your Player’s Club account, collect points in Lucke-Rewards, and make online purchases.

How do I access the ticket scanner on the mobile app? NC Lottery
Hi Lawrence. On your mobile device, please sign into your account. Click the floating button. If you do not see the button, please go to your menu next to our logo and click on ticket checker.The NCEL app needs access to the mobile camera to scan codes and validate the tickets. Press OK when this Permissions dialog is pops-up. You should be all set. I hope this helps.

Hi Sarita- If you go to the games section of our site and click on scratch-offs, you'll be able to see each scratch-off game and how many prizes are left.

New app on Iphone 4s app is not scanning. The scan feature is pointing me to the old app which is retired. Is this a known issue or is it unique to my experience? If you call 1-855-767-1863, someone should be able to help you figure out what's going on. As for the questions about app updates, the updates will happen automatically.

Hello Michael- The Icon for the app should appear as the Lottery Logo. When you pull up the app, it should automatically take you to the sign-up page. I hope this helps!

As soon as the new app launches, the old app will no longer work. But the new app will have a ticket-checker and will be more user-friendly. You will also receive a one-time 500 point bonus for downloading and signing into the new app for the first time :)

At this time, the ticket checker is only a ticket checker. You will still need to enter the ticket (by scanning or by numbers)into Lucke-Rewards.

I like the website and am excited about the app. But dang can we get a big winner somewhere other than the big cities of North Carolina??? I’ve been buying scratch offs and lottery tickets in Warsaw,NC and around Duplin County for quite a few years now and haven’t seen anyone win big. But every week I see winners in the big cities, Raleigh, Charlotte & Fayetteville. Almost seems rigged if you really want my opinion. And the rich seem to get richer.

By giving everyone 500 points. All that accomplishes to make it harder to win. Why do that? At 700,000 users of the app and you give out 500 points. That becomes 350,000,000 points handed out. It makes playing those games virtually impossible to win.

Wow, whomever is writing the technical requirements for your contracts needs some serious education. When having essentially two applications for the same set of functions, the mobile and the website, they should mirror each other, save for a technologically unsupported function. I also read that you are waiting for Apple to approve the mobile app. Is there an Android app and has it been approved? Life doesn't revolve around Apple.NC Lottery
The website is for players and non-players alike, and the app is geared more towards Lucke-Rewards and Online Play. We do not think so either, which is why there is an android app. Again, thanks for your feedback. The people who make those decisions are reading the blog.

I get that the new mobile app will have a ticket checker. Simple question - will the new web site, NOT the mobile app, have the ticket checker feature? Yes or no. And I see that you have to scan your ticket twice in the mobile app, once to check for winning tickets AND scan again to enter for rewards points. There are two different types of players, those who only play the games and LZ members who play the games and participate in the rewards programs. So there should have been two methods in the app, scan for winning tickets with the option to enter for rewards points (like a popup window) for non-LZ players and a second where LZ members scan for rewards points and the app notifies you it is a winning ticket. Back to my dishwasher comment some blogs ago - one for eating utensils and a second dishwasher for pots and pans.

Hi there, Cokiethebaby. The new app works a little differently than the current app. There’s no back button on the app, but there is a built-in dashboard on the screen at all times so you can toggle between the screens you want to see.

Hi there, Autumn. There isn’t a limit to the number of tickets you can check using the app ticket checker. However, you are only checking tickets. The 75 ticket limit for Lucke-Rewards entry will still be in place.

Just like Online Play on Lucke-Zone, players can purchase Cash 5, Powerball, and Mega Millions tickets with the update. At this time, players cannot purchase Pick 3 and Pick 4 online.

Winners of “for life” prizes are guaranteed $25,000 a year for life. The winner also has the option of taking a cash payout of $390,000. The most recent winner chose the cash option. After federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $271,053.

Because of that, we reach out to our folks who handle the logistics of the site and run our tests to make sure everything is operating smoothly when players have questions. We are just trying to understand the problem in its entirety, so we can figure out if its a glitch in the system, if it is something we do not offer, or if it is something we can try to improve immediately. We appreciate player feedback because it helps us improve and helps us provide an all-around better user experience. Upon researching the issue, the feature is, at this time, not offered. It is something that has been noted and will be addressed and revisited once the new site launches. Hope this helps clarify any remaining questions on the topic.

LZ, I don't understand why you are having trouble understanding what Harold & everyone one else has been trying to ask/say for about 6 months now. The dash board use to say for example something like this.- Total points accumulated 564,359.. total points redeemed 560,359.. Total points remaining 4000. NOW it just gives us the remaining unused points. The answers you have been giving players about entries & so on has nothing to do with what soooo many are asking. I think it is a personal thing. Players just want to know if they have accumulated a 1/2 mil or a million points over the years, kind of an ego thing. If that feature is lost , then just say so. Our unused remaining points is all that really matters to most of us. NC Lottery

Winners are typically contacted within 48 hours after the draw, sometimes sooner. Your points will still be available! Lucke-Zone, as in a separate webpage, will no longer exist. It will all be merged into one site. But you will still be able to comment on blogs just like you do here. You will just access those blogs on the main website instead of www.lucke-zone.com.

No. If a drawing has more than one winner, then an individual player may only win once. If the drawing has different price points or packages (like the Power Cruise promotion) then the player will receive the prize with the greatest value.

You can always scan the ticket, which might be faster than entering the tickets by hand.

I have put this puppy to rest. Total points was fun in the beginning as It kept me on track of my spending. THEN we got extra points for tickets which was FUN. As I watched my total points increase that was Fun Again. then everything changed again and no more total points to see. AND yes I had the Help desk try to no avail.... The END

Hi there Harold. Thank you for reaching out and we are thankful for players giving feedback. That is how the new app with the ticket checker came to be! Blog moderators are trying our best to understand the issue and pass along the information. When you go to your "Dashboard" and select "Points History" and select the "View" drop down and change it to "All Activity" does it still not show you all the points your have accumulated? In the same respect, if you go to "Dashboard" and select "Ticket Entry History" and then select the game you would would like to see ticket entry history (or you can select all games) and then go to the "View" drop down and change it to "All Activity" does it not show all the entries your have accumulated? If this does not work, then we strongly suggest reaching back out to us and letting us know and also filling out an online support form through the site. Hopefully we can figure out what is going on and try to help.

First of all let me state that I'm a huge fan of the Lucke - Zone. So this is not crying or complaining. This is "my" final attempt to get an answer to a question I and others have asked without any success. If you do not answer completely this time I'm putting this puppy to rest. On the Dashboard, where you find your points history the information you find there is your current points, there is no mention of total points acquired through your history or points redeemed. so for me and other curious minds is this info gone forever? If it is that is fine, but it's not where you have been saying it is. I'm over the moon for the new web site and new mobile app. This was a little lengthy, thanks for you attention and time. Hi there, Chris28411. The ticket checker is just that, a ticket checker. It will tell you if you have won, but it will not enter the ticket into your account of second-chance drawings. You will have the do that separately. But we will pass along the suggestion to the folks who work on the app :)

As for the odds: You can see the odds for winning each of the prizes. We also make it clear what the overall odds of winning are. For example, say you wanted to know the odds of winning $2 on the new Lady Luck scratch-off. You go to our website and select "Games" and then "Scratch-Offs." Then you select which game you would like to know the odds for and select the option of "How to Play and Odds" directly underneath the graphic. It takes you to a PDF displaying the odds of winning each one of the prizes. So, in this case, the odds of winning $2 on this game would be 1 in 13.64 when the game was printed.

PLEASE I AM BEGGING 2 things and I have made this request many times. When I go to see what numbers came up if the drawing has day and night drawings, PLEASE make an option to ONLY show DAY or NIGHT, I like to see all in a nights draw last 10, 20 or 30 and NOT have to sift thru or scan over BOTH day and night. Also when u started in the ODDS page you used to have overall odds on each prize point say 1 in 10 for $1, 1 in 15 for $2, not just the overall to win ANY prize. For me ONLY showing overall to win any prize is deceptive. As some people MIGHT think they will have a 1 in 3 of winning over a million on a $30 scratcher I have honestly met people that think that, but even I want to buy with caution knowing ahead the odds on all larger prizes. PLEASE bring this back and separate DAY And NIGHT draws as an option. Thanks. NC Lottery

Hi there, JaxCass. When the lottery withholds minimum taxes it equates to 25% federal and 5.499% state. However, we only withhold the minimum amount. Since we cannot give tax advice and do not know which tax bracket winners are in, we always suggest talking to a tax professional before or immediately after claiming. Hope that helps!

Geo location still matters, as the user must be in North Carolina to purchase N.C. tickets. Have you tried using the app or Lucke-Rewards on a different internet connection? Hi there, Red. The app should work on android tablets. The only caveat would be that the device meets the minimum software requirements. In other words, if the device’s software and operating system are out of date, that could conceivably cause an issue.

We looked back and found a $323.5 million Powerball jackpot on Aug. 9 and a $323,000,000 Mega Millions jackpot on Aug. 4. That may be what you are referring to. Our understanding is a difference in lump sum would occur due to the difference in the amount of the jackpot of half a million dollars and to any difference in interest rates used in the financing of the annuity that pays the jackpot amount in annual annuity payments over 29 years. We don't see a respon8se in August to a question like this. Generally, we don't delete a comment unless it has incorrect information. Then we would revise and update the answer.

You'll be able to scan all tickets, draw tickets and instant tickets, to see if they are winners. The draw game that you can purchase online will be the same as the ones you can purchase now: Powerball, Mega Millions, Lucky For Life, and Carolina Cash 5.

You will need to do two scans. One to check and see if you have a winning ticket. And a second to enter your ticket into Lucke-Rewards for points.

No change here is planned. You'll still see your entries by clicking “View your entry history” on the Enter Tickets page.

The lottery's recommendation is to enter your ticket into your Lucke-Rewards account to get your points before you turn it in to get your prize. That ensures you get the points too.
