The celebration of this year’s graduates continues this week with two college students who have received Education Lottery scholarships, helping to make college more affordable.
Tyra Kornegay, who is graduating from N.C. State this week with a degree in elementary education, says the lottery scholarship helped make her dream of becoming a teacher come true.
“Because I got the Education Lottery scholarship,” said Kornegay. “ I am able to live my dream – work with children and continue what I’m passionate about for years to come.”
Darren Lockett, an Army veteran who is studying construction management at Wake Technical Community College, hopes to use his degree to employ other veterans.
“I want to be a project manager,” said Lockett. “That way I can do my part to help other veterans find jobs.”
Whether you prefer the thrill of a scratch-off or the anticipation of a draw game, your fun helps support the next generation’s education – from Pre-K to college.
We tip our hats to you and to this year’s graduates.
