Asheville man wins $100,000 lottery prize

Kenneth Thomas of Asheville is celebrating after he won $100,000 playing the $4,000,000 Platinum Payout scratch-off game.

Thomas purchased the lucky $20 ticket at the One Stop on Haywood Road in Hendersonville.

He claimed his prize Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal withholdings, he took home $70,756. Thomas says the win will put him in a better place financially.

“With this win, we’re well on our way,” said Thomas. “I’d also like to spend some of it on my grandbabies, get them something nice.”

Well, if he really found this winning ticket in a trash, I see nothing wrong with it. The person who threw away this ticket should pay more attention. There are scanners everywhere, and players should scan every ticket they buy. Finders keepers, losers weepers.
