Haywood County man snags $100,000 jackpot win

Jason Cole of Waynesville tried his luck on a $1 Cash 5 ticket and won a $100,000 jackpot Friday night.

Cole bought his lucky Quick Pick ticket using Online Play. He matched all five numbers to win the jackpot. The odds of matching numbers on all five white balls are 1 in 962,598.

He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters Wednesday in Raleigh and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $71,500.

Cash 5 is one of six lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets at a retail location or with Online Play through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Wednesday’s jackpot is $154,000.

Hey, Robert F. You and me are in the same boat, sonny! That's exactly how it rolls with me. Now just the other day, I got 3 numbers right, first time in a very long time, luckily I had double play on my ticket. Won 3 bucks. I have 2 sets of special numbers I play with every drawing. LOL....I guess it takes a lot of luck for all the BIG draw games 6th ball to be (2) Mega, Powerball, Lucky4Life, and even (VA) Cash4Life! What are the chances of that if something fishy ain't going? Have there ever been a BIG game Winner where at least 10 plus people won having the same numbers? Out of all the people playing someone has to be playing the same numbers, because there are only so many days and months in the year and most people play birthdays and months. The Lottery knows every number played before the drawing. Hum..... Congrats to all that have won and one day I hope my number is called.
